Who are we?

Law No. 031/PR/2010 of 27 December 2010 — CHUME is a public hospital with legal personality and financial autonomy, under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Health.

CHUME is the national reference hospital for gynaecological, obstetric and paediatric emergencies. It fulfils a public service mission guaranteeing continuity of care 24/7.

Provide reference care services in maternal, neonatal and infant health.

24/7 Emergency care

Provide round-the-clock emergency care 24/7 for gynaecological, obstetric and paediatric emergencies.

Health prevention

Prevention in maternal and child health: vaccinations, antenatal care, PMTCT.

Training & Research

Contribute to health staff training and promote scientific research.

The hospital's main mission is to reduce maternal, neonatal and infant mortality in Chad by providing accessible, continuous, quality care.


Our history

28 November 2010

Creation of CHUME by Law No. 031/PR/2010. Hospital under the Ministry of Public Health.

25 January 2011

Appointment decree for the first Director General and establishment of management bodies.

2011

Official inauguration and start of clinical activities with four technical departments.

Development

Progressive strengthening: Neonatology, Scanner, Blood Bank, Resuscitation. Procedures manual established.

Today

Leading national reference centre with over 15 years of experience and more than 200 qualified staff.

General Management

The hospital is led by a Director General appointed by decree, assisted by a Deputy DG. He chairs a weekly Management Council with all directors, the Chief Nurse and Financial Controller.
